Kids' bike rentals at Chambord estate (€16 per person for 2h). Flat trails in the royal forest (5,440 hectares). Deer and boar observation points along the way. Combine with a picnic. Ideal May to September, cool morning recommended.
3. The Cheverny dog pack
The "dog feeding" at Cheverny, around 11:30am or 5pm depending on season, is magical for kids. 40 dogs in absolute silence, then an order, then the rush to the feeding trough. 15-minute show included with the ticket. Not to be missed.
4. Clos Lucé and Leonardo's machines
The Clos Lucé park in Amboise reproduces 20 Leonardo da Vinci machines at full scale: tank, helicopter, parachute, drawbridge. Kids can touch, operate, climb. Plan 2h, ideal for 6-12 year olds.
5. Canoeing at Beaugency
Supervised 2h descent from Beaugency towards Saint-Laurent-Nouan. Accessible from age 7 in 2-3 seater canoes. Sandbank break midway. Rate €25 per person. Booking advised. Period May-September.
6. Cheverny tulips in April
250,000 bulbs in flower over two magical weeks each year (variable, generally early to mid-April). Small paths between beds, guaranteed photos. For kids who love gardens or photography.
7. The Minimes farm at Meung-sur-Loire
Small educational farm in the château park. Animals to discover (hens, goats, rabbits, donkeys). Open during school holidays. Accessible to toddlers from age 2. An hour of calm in a château day.
8. Loire by Bike with a cart
Beaugency rents bikes with baby and toddler carts (secured, belted). Easy loop Beaugency-Meung-sur-Loire, 20 km, separated cycle path. Breaks in Meung-sur-Loire (café terraces) or Loire banks. Ideal for families with 1-3 year olds.
9. Sully château escape game
1h30 east, Sully-sur-Loire château offers a scripted escape game. From age 8. Plan 1h30. Ideal for groups of 4-6 people. Booking required. An alternative to classic guided tours when kids need action.
10. A baby-equipped stay
The often-overlooked element: lodging where everything is already provided. La Maison du Château in Meung has crib, travel cot, high chair, child cutlery, window guards, toys for ages 0-10. You arrive nearly empty-handed (rare with kids). The inner courtyard is safe, perfect for evening drinks while the kids play.
